It seems most Americans understand the Healthcare system is unnafordable and broken and that continuing a failed model might bankrupt the nation itself. Cost cutting results in rationing, covering all Americans results in dramatically increased taxes, specifically on the backs of the businesses discouraging job creation. Sumbit articles here on this debate and offer solutions. Mine are as follows:
1) Investigate and prosecute the $30 B estimated fraud in Medicare and Medicaid.
2) Discontinue Health entitlements for non-American citizens
3) A public sponsored Health Insurance option but not universal coverage. Health Insurance are regional monopolies which must be broken up by increasing competition. That's where government could use its aggregate purchasing power to force middle-man waste out of HMO's.
4) Open up Rx competition from Canada. Why pay $10 a pill for a life saving medication if it can be offered at $2 from Canada? U.S. Pharamceuticals would learn to compete on price and innovate to stay ahead of the competition. The FDA must be scrutinized on political favoratism on new medications and competition.
